FIX YOUR ACCENT

fake-blood

Generally speaking I am used to hard stomping electro madness brought to you by FAKE BLOOD but, I was quite surprised by the funk/disco vibe on the three song FIX YOUR ACCENT EP. Three songs which seem to be following along the same lines as Duck Sauce laying down disco samples but still reverting back to electro to shake things up. Enjoy.

YOOO watup its Harskeet Skeet here, live and direct, bringing you my first ever post! And since it is my first post, I thought I’d stick to what I know best; hip-hop. I’m a relative noob when it comes to the electronic scene, but I’m learning fast. It helps that my best friend and partner is a DJ/producer, and that I like to wile-the-fuck-out in a way that only electro allows, so don’t worry ill pick it up quick. But for now I need to tell you about De La Soul, and their upcoming date in MTL. These certified living legends have been doing their thing for over 22 years, and this is a cant miss opportunities to witness greatness at the Olympia on August 22nd. De La isn’t one of those Hollywood bubblegum rap acts, with 15 fools jumping around onstage, yelling randomly, and Olympia is the perfect venue for them to showcase their creativity. I can guarantee you’ll hear at least one freestyle you won’t soon forget.

Here are some of their classics

De La Soul - Me, Myself and I

De La  Soul - Ring Ring Ring (Ha Ha Hey)

And a remix of their grammy winning colabo with the Gorillaz

Gorillaz feat. De La Soul - Feel Good Inc (Remakerz Remix)

The Sophomore album by Calvin Harris “Ready for the Weekend” drops today in the U.S.! After hearing “I’m not alone” a few months back I’ve been waiting impatiently in anticipation and I must say I was not dissapointed. Here are a couple of the secondary tracks from the album, enjoy.

Calvin Harris - Flashback

Calvin Harris - The Rain (Does the begining sound like the theme to skins or is that just me?)

corey-shapiro

Corey Shapiro, flashy and fun, runs a very exclusive and very well recognized vintage sunglasses business out of LA and MTL… here’s a writeup nightlife mag did about him

” This sassy Hampstead hunk had been running a “collectible sneaker” store on the Main when he one day decided to rifle through his grandfather’s drawers only to discover the lovable ol’ codger had owned “this huge pair of vintage gold Cazals, just like MC Hammer wore when he was popular.” Replacing hisgrandfather’s prescription lenses with some shades, Corey started “wearing them around everywhere, they became my thing, my fashion statement.” So impressed by all the attention his nifty eyewear was garnering, he started travelling the world looking for vintage eyewear inventories from the 1950s-’80s he could pick up for a song and remarket as the coolest, hippest shit any self-respecting fashionista would be happy to pay top dollar to own. “Basically, we bought this dead stock, placed it on my celebrity friends that I knew from my collectible sneaker days, and remarketted it as a hot and precious fashion commodity.” His company, which first opened its doors in 2005, now has offices in Montreal, New York and L.A., with said “dead stock” eyewear selling from between $300 and $25,000 a pair. He drives a 2008 Chevy HHR. “

laidbackluke

Laidback Luke has been around for awhile now yet he has certainly made new leaps in 2009. I’m sure you’ve all heard his work with the Swedish House Mafia, most recently, Leave the World Behind. His work with Diplo and the track I’m stamping on this post is quite different than with the housey swedes sitting on the figgity side of things, check it out.

nujax

Nujax is my latest musical endeavor!

Here’s a write up about us by Culture Of Me: Super quality undiscovered acts are one of those things that we here just really beam about and we’re all aflutter about this new electro duo of bedroom producers/DJs called NUJAX. The boys up in Canada have gotten praise already, scoring a top ten reader’s pick for the Montreal Mirror’s “best of”s, and they’ve shared bills with one of our fave DJs, Cobra Krames. But now with these two tracks, one a tremendous remix of Major Lazer’s Andy Milonakis vehicle “Zumbi” and an original that is unfortunately named “Supa Dupa Fly” but redeems itself and employs a ton of dancefloor banger synths and breakneck drumming, we’re pretty sure these two young dudes will be jumping out front and center in the hearts and minds of those who really love to get sweaty wet and lose his/her shit. Adulation from the reckless youth, your time is now.
