THE HOOD INTERNET

hood-internet

Time for some mash up. STV SLV and ABX make up the HOOD INTERNET which focus mainly on mash up of indie rock and hip hop. Although sometimes I cringe when I hear lil weeezy over a relaxing indie song that I enjoy (check below) the creativity and the skill to put it all together in a format that sounds great deserves respect. I’ve randomly downloaded tracks from these guys for a while now as a banger or just a new spin on an old track that I like. They’ve got … hundreds of mash ups…. and I’m only throwing up a few which doesn’t do them justice so check out their http://www.myspace.com/therealhoodinternet and peep the mixtapes for a broader view.

FIX YOUR ACCENT

fake-blood

Generally speaking I am used to hard stomping electro madness brought to you by FAKE BLOOD but, I was quite surprised by the funk/disco vibe on the three song FIX YOUR ACCENT EP. Three songs which seem to be following along the same lines as Duck Sauce laying down disco samples but still reverting back to electro to shake things up. Enjoy.

The Sophomore album by Calvin Harris “Ready for the Weekend” drops today in the U.S.! After hearing “I’m not alone” a few months back I’ve been waiting impatiently in anticipation and I must say I was not dissapointed. Here are a couple of the secondary tracks from the album, enjoy.

Calvin Harris - Flashback

Calvin Harris - The Rain (Does the begining sound like the theme to skins or is that just me?)

Calvin Harris - Stars Come Out

laidbackluke

Laidback Luke has been around for awhile now yet he has certainly made new leaps in 2009. I’m sure you’ve all heard his work with the Swedish House Mafia, most recently, Leave the World Behind. His work with Diplo and the track I’m stamping on this post is quite different than with the housey swedes sitting on the figgity side of things, check it out.

Diplo and Laidback Luke - Hey! (Original Mix)

MSTRKRFT (feat John Legend) - Heartbreaker (Laidback Luke Remix)

Louis la Roche - Me and Her

louislaroche

At just 18 years old the young one Louis la Roche from the UK is about to release his second EP  ”Me and Her”. His first EP “The Peach” had a funk house sound to it that was remiscent of many French house artists. For instance, credit was mistakenly given to Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk for la Roche’s song “Love” which speaks volumes for his skill and the quality of the song itself. Although this style of music is a bit different than the usual head bangin electro we like to get down to it’ll still make you move.

From “Me and Her”

Louis la Roche - Be Brave

From “The Peach”

DOUBLE FEATURE

Friday, February 13th, 2009

So I’ve been very lazy on the posting and in order to redeem myself I’ve put together double post action. BOYS NOIZE on tour and… MSTRKRFT new album “Fist of God”.

MSTRKRFT

mstrkrft1

Nowwww I am aware that there was a recent MSTRKRFT post but it was before the news of a MSTRKRFT new album. Fuck yes. Not much else to say. For me the news is bigger than A-rod juicing and ruining his career. The reported set date for release is MARCH 17th 2009. They’ve been keeping the tracks under heavy security but leak leak CHECK IT. Oh and they will be back in MTL april 19th. ENJOY

Mstrkrft - Breakaway ft Jahmal from The Carps

MSTRKRFT

boys-noize

If you’re an MTL resident like myself you’ll be happy to know boys noize is back MARCH 21st. For others if you haven’t caught Boys Noize live check out his  myspace and get on it. The last show I went to I danced my face off and by the time it was all over I felt like I had been involved in a water balloon fight against the kid from rookie of the year before he slipped and fixed his improbable injury, Gross? Awesome? Grossome? Anyway, he has been dropping remix after remix of hardcore electro, softer shit, in between, in and around etc. Not to mention 3 albums. Basically anything to get the feet moving and head bobbing and he rarely misses. Check out these tracks:

Sebastien Tellier - Amour et Violence (Boys Noize remix)

Royksopp - Happy Noize (Boys Noize Remix)

Bonus:

Boys Noize - My Head (Para One Remix)

obama

Standing in front of millions and setting a new record for television viewers at 38 million Obama looked as poised as ever and delivered a speech worthy of his title. Beginning with a bipartisan note of thanks for Mr. Bush’s contributions to the U.S. Obama is pushing for unity in a trifled America. After the speech all I could really think was goddamn he is good. Whether conservative, gun totting or hater one cannot doubt the skills of Barack and the hope he brings to Americans and the World. So fuck what yo mama say… Obama way every day. In fact he’s already ordered Guantanamo closed. Furthermore, his Limo nicknamed “the beast” is an absurd stretch Cadillac able to withstand pretty much any attack short of a nuke so he’ll be rollin in style and stayin alive.

Other than one of the biggest historical moments of our life I found out that Busy P mentioned in an interview that Daft Punk has been working on a new album which is fucking awesome. In fact the interview was awhile ago so although Guy-Manuel and Thomas are taking their time and we might not hear any new tracks for awhile the news still got me in the mood for some robot rock, you too?

Adam Freeland vs Daft Punk - AerObama

Daft Punk - Around the World (Villains More Cowbell Edit)

Daft Punk - Human After All (Justice Remix)

Also heres some throwback pics of Brinada’s Limited Edition Obama tees that flew off the shelves during the election…
