jay-z-blueprint-3-cover

Young Hov’s 12th album has officially been leaked! The 15 track record has guest spots from Drake, Kid Cudi, Alicia Keys and the regulars; Mr. West, Jeezy, Pharrell and Rihanna. Kanye is all over the CD production-wise, with No I.D. weighing in heavily as well, most notably on D.O.A, and mainstays such as The Neptunes and Timbo make contributions. I haven’t listened to the CD enough to give you a fair review, but I’ll put my 2 cents in once I get there. The only song I have heard alot is the first single, Death of Auto-Tune, and honestly I feel that Jay had the right idea, but faltered to far from his original goal. The record was supposed to be against all the fake shit in hip-hop, and I agree this auto-tune shit has gotten out of hand, but DJ Khalid, Young Jeezy and Funkmaster Flex do not represent anything close to real hip-hopand. Jay-Z seems to disagree with me. We also differ in our stance that the injection of color into fashion is a step in the wrong direction. Since when is self-expression bad? Isn’t that what this whole music thing is about? Hova, you are the first to say that you aren’t a gangster, so stop trying to be G by saying you’re only going to wear black.

Anyways, heres your fix. Enjoy

corey-shapiro

Corey Shapiro, flashy and fun, runs a very exclusive and very well recognized vintage sunglasses business out of LA and MTL… here’s a writeup nightlife mag did about him

” This sassy Hampstead hunk had been running a “collectible sneaker” store on the Main when he one day decided to rifle through his grandfather’s drawers only to discover the lovable ol’ codger had owned “this huge pair of vintage gold Cazals, just like MC Hammer wore when he was popular.” Replacing hisgrandfather’s prescription lenses with some shades, Corey started “wearing them around everywhere, they became my thing, my fashion statement.” So impressed by all the attention his nifty eyewear was garnering, he started travelling the world looking for vintage eyewear inventories from the 1950s-’80s he could pick up for a song and remarket as the coolest, hippest shit any self-respecting fashionista would be happy to pay top dollar to own. “Basically, we bought this dead stock, placed it on my celebrity friends that I knew from my collectible sneaker days, and remarketted it as a hot and precious fashion commodity.” His company, which first opened its doors in 2005, now has offices in Montreal, New York and L.A., with said “dead stock” eyewear selling from between $300 and $25,000 a pair. He drives a 2008 Chevy HHR. “

Nujax is my latest musical endeavor!

Here’s a write up about us by Culture Of Me: Super quality undiscovered acts are one of those things that we here just really beam about and we’re all aflutter about this new electro duo of bedroom producers/DJs called NUJAX. The boys up in Canada have gotten praise already, scoring a top ten reader’s pick for the Montreal Mirror’s “best of”s, and they’ve shared bills with one of our fave DJs, Cobra Krames. But now with these two tracks, one a tremendous remix of Major Lazer’s Andy Milonakis vehicle “Zumbi” and an original that is unfortunately named “Supa Dupa Fly” but redeems itself and employs a ton of dancefloor banger synths and breakneck drumming, we’re pretty sure these two young dudes will be jumping out front and center in the hearts and minds of those who really love to get sweaty wet and lose his/her shit. Adulation from the reckless youth, your time is now.

Louis la Roche - Me and Her

louislaroche

At just 18 years old the young one Louis la Roche from the UK is about to release his second EP  ”Me and Her”. His first EP “The Peach” had a funk house sound to it that was remiscent of many French house artists. For instance, credit was mistakenly given to Thomas Bangalter of Daft Punk for la Roche’s song “Love” which speaks volumes for his skill and the quality of the song itself. Although this style of music is a bit different than the usual head bangin electro we like to get down to it’ll still make you move.

Safely back from his tour of China & Thailand, Hatchmatik is truly on his 2 double O 9 grind, expanding his collection of highly blogged club bangers, and destroying stadium crowds at events such as the world famous Igloofest.

Hatches latest track is a bootleg of ‘The Girls’ by Animal Collective. In a nutshell he makes the original much more danceable and fist-pumpable. This track will surely get lots of playtime in my upcoming sets as it should in yours…
